VILNIUS (BNS) - The refinery Mazeikiu Nafta will began to halt
operations the morning of Oct. 30, but it will not cease operations
permanently.

Mazeikiu Nafta will be ready to begin oil processing at any time in the future.

The plant's head of the information and advertising division,
Virginija Kristinaitiene, said deliveries of 13,000 tons of crude
were expected on Nov. 1, to be followed by 105,000 tons later.

This amount of oil is set in Russia's confirmed schedule of
deliveries to Lithuania for the fourth quarter.

Mazeikiai plans for a general shutdown, lacking any crude oil. On
Oct. 29, the Lithuanian government sold 33 percent of Mazeikiai Oil
to the U.S. company Williams International, following which $225
million were immediately deposited in the Lithuanian refinery's
account by Williams and the Lithuanian government.
