Parnu to commemorate freedom fighters – again

TALLINN - Almost a year after the removal of a controversial monument in Parnu honoring Estonian soldiers who served in the Nazi German Army, city officials have decided to erect a new war memorial, commemorating all World War II Estonian freedom fighters.Parnu Mayor Vaino Hallimagi has said the new monument will be dedicated to all independence fighters, including those who fought in the German army, guerrilla freedom fighters and volunteer soldiers who fought against Russia alongside Finnish troops in the Winter War of 1939-40."While there was a public interest to make a monument for Esto...
