VILNIUS (BNS) - The Baltic stock exchanges are trying to create conditions for trading on the Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian stock exchanges by members of at least one of the bourses.

Heads of the Baltic stock exchanges and central depositories discussed possibilities for cooperation during their meeting in Vilnius Jan. 22.

Arminta Saladziene, director of the Market Development of the Lithuanian National Stock Exchange, said information exchanges, preparation of information on the Baltic bourses and publication of a joint bulletin were seen as the first step toward cooperation.

It was decided to set up a working group composed of three representatives from each of the Baltic bourses and one representative from each of the central depositories.

The group will work out a concept for cooperation among the stock exchanges, analyze legal and technical obstacles and prepare a plan for the project's implementation.
