RIGA - Two of Latvia's biggest Internet portals, Tvnet and Internet
catalogue Labdien Latvija! (Hello, in Latvia!), have merged, company
representatives told BNS.

The portal that will emerge as a result of the merger will be
available at the addresses www.tvnet.lv, www.latnet.lv and www.lv.

Tvnet marketing director Juris Graudumnieks told BNS the merger takes
place as part of the cooperation agreement and the owners of the
companies will remain unchanged. "The merger will be in terms of
content, not a legal merger," he said.

Tvnet launched operations last September and is providing domestic
and world news about politics, economy, society, information about
the latest technologies, entertainment and discussions, uniting the
text and video material in an integrated information flow.

After four months of operations Tvnet has an average of 8,000
visitors and 60,000 page views on weekdays and 7,400 registered users.

Labdien Latvija! launched operations in 1994, serving as an
information source for people willing to acquire information about
Latvia. Set up and maintained by Latnet, the home pages catalogue is
the first and biggest information source about Latvia on the Internet.

Following the merger Tvnet users will be able to use the home pages
catalogue, while visitors to Labdien Latvija! will receive the latest
news from Latvia and abroad.

The portal formed as a result of the merger also will have a search
engine of Latvia's Internet home pages.
