TALLINN - Years after the Soviet army pulled out of Estonia, the environmental disaster it left behind is still taking its toll. In a report released Nov. 25, scientists said the cost of the cleanup of the Pakri peninsula, former home to a nuclear submarine training base, could run to $5 billion.The main problems on the peninsula, where the former military town of Paldiski is located, are containing radioactive waste generated by the training base and cleaning up the fuel from the central boilerhouse.
