Around 200 cultural events will be organized during Latvia's Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Selga Laizane, head of the Latvian Presidency's public diplomacy and culture program has said.
The program will be made up of six thematic lines: the idea of United Europe, the end of World War II, contemporary professional arts, synthesis of art genres and integration of social developments in art, the Song and Dance Festival and the Amber Road, and Latvian diaspora's involvement in the Latvian Presidency of the EU Council.
The program will incorporate hundreds of events including various concerts and dozens of tours of Riga and Latvia.
The Latvian culture program will be presented internationally by the most prominent and acclaimed artists, including Kremerata Baltica, Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Latvian Radio Choir, Raimonds Pauls and the Big Band of the Latvian State Radio, Sinfonietta Riga", and State Choir Latvija.
More than 500 artists, actors and musicians will be involved in the cultural program of Latvian Presidency of the EU Council. The program will close with the 8th Nordic and Baltic Song Festival, which will bring together about 10,000 participants.
As reported, Latvia will hold the Presidency of the EU Council in January-June next year.
