RIGA - The Supreme Court decided on Oct 31 to reject a claim of electoral fraud made by Harmony, a party representing Latvia’s Russian speakers, in the wake of October’s Saeima elections. Harmony wanted the Supreme Court to order the Central Election Commission to deem invalid the ballots that were cast for Unity and in which all candidates’ names were crossed out, with only Unity candidate Dzintars Zakis’ name left uncrossed, as well as those ballots where Zakis received “pluses”.
