Latvia’s election campaigns ahead of the 12th Saeima elections were remarkable for the heavy involvement of third persons, Corruption Prevention Bureau (CPB) Chief Jaroslavs Strelcenoks said in an interview with LNT television on Oct. 31, reports LETA.
He said that the CPB had information about 74 third persons who urged people to vote for some particular political party or politicians during the election campaigning period.
The CPB received 61 reports about possible violations of election campaigning regulations, as well as 300 applications from parties requesting explanations about the various aspects of the rules and regulations on election campaigns.
Initial estimations indicate that none of the parties exceeded the spending limit set for political campaigns. Strelcenoks refuses to provide information on any possible violations before they are fully analyzed.
