A new Russian news site will launch in the Baltics later this year aimed at Russian speakers in the Baltic states.

Baltnews would serve communities in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, editor and Coordination Council of Russian Compatriots in Estonian member s Alexander Kornilov confirmed.

Kornilov said the news sit would be "a standard, non-political entertainment portal"

Professor Nerijus Maliukevicius, senior lecturer at Vilnius University Institute of International Relations and Political Science, said that formation of such a portal for Russian-speaking communities in all Baltic countries does not surprise him, but Maliukevicius pointed out the fact that there are no contacts provided at either of the portals.

"That is not typical of the European media market," he said, quoted by the LETA news agency.
