A new campaign is urging residents to buy Latvian goods in an effort to support the local economy
Latvia-produced goods and products will be marked with stickers, labels or posters called "The Good of Latvia", as part of the new campaigned backed by The Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), advertising agency DDB Latvia and several business associations.
"The goal of the campaign is to change the shopping habits in Latvia, and prompt residents to buy local goods and products," stressed the LCCI head Janis Endzins.
Endzins said that any company could participate in the campaign. The campaign does not require a product to be completely made of Latvian commodities.
"The fact of origin is of the main importance, meaning, that a given product is made in Latvia. If someone puts "The Good of Latvia" sticker on a product made in another country, that will mean dishonest business practice, which carries certain consequences," he added.
Companies interested in participating in the campaign can visit latvijaslabums.lv.
