New plans could be put in place in Tallinn prohibiting drinking alcohol in public spaces, Postimees Online reports.
The city government stated in the municipal newspaper Pealinn that drinking in public places clearly disturbs fellow citizens.
“Unless we will restrict drinking in public places, we will soon witness an increase in street crime and family violence, as many violent crimes are caused by alcohol,” said Deputy Mayor of Tallinn Kalle Klandorf.
Mayor of Tallinn Edgar Savisaar said that excessive consumption of alcohol is a problem in Estonia, and Tallinn will do everything in its power to show that it values alcohol-free city environment.
