Merkel set to visit Latvia for talks amid Ukraine crisis

German Chancellor Angela Merkel will visit Latvia next week, state television show Rita panorama reports.

Merkel will meet with Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma and President Andris Berzins on August 18. Security issues concerning the developments in eastern Ukraine will  be discussed during the meeting. 

Economic cooperation between Latvia and Germany will also be discussed which will be held at the Latvian National Library.

Merkel previously visited Latvia during the NATO summit in 2006 and during the Latvian-German Economic Forum in 2010.
