Palanga celebrates summer

PALANGA - Palanga resort in Lithuania has kicked off another one of its Palanga Summer festivals, this year’s to continue till Aug. 9.
The festivities, hosting the best Lithuanian musicians during which different types of concert events will take place, will occupy the Kurhauzas, a building that has become a symbol of Palanga.

The various types of music will include classical and jazz works, along with poetry evenings and other types of events.
The festival opened on July 29 with an event titled ‘Amber Serenade of Bach,’ with three primariuses of the most famous orchestras in the world: concertmaster Alexey Lundin, violist Erik Wenbo Xu, concertmaster, soloist Vytautas Sondeckis.
During the festival poet Justinas Marcinkevicius will be honored, and the 300th anniversary of Kristijonas Donelaitis, the founding father of the Lithuanian literature, will be commemorated.

The festival in the resort town will be closed by the performance delivered by one of the most famous Lithuanian pianists, Petras Geniusas, making this event well worth attending.
