Doctors fighting for the lives of multiple ’spice’ users

Despite attempts to eradicate the use of herbal drugs mixtures aka 'spice', doctors are still fighting for the lives of multiple users in Latvia every day.

Riga Eastern Clinical University Hospital reports several cases of people suffering from hallucinations, increased nervousness and aggressiveness, psychoactive substances every day.

A young man was admitted to hospital last weekend after being found unconscious at his home. He had been using the psychoactive substance, the hospital's spokesperson Aleksejs Visnakovs said.

"Medics managed to reanimate the patient during the first aid stage, nevertheless, his condition is still extremely complicated," the hospital's expert Roberts Stasinskis explained.

The patient is currently recovering in hospital whilst his condition is gradually improving.

A campaign to close down legal drugs outlets in Latvia proved popular and effective earlier this year, A number of key spots which sell the drug were closed down.
