Latvia plans 10 million euro boost to improve soldier salaries

Latvia plans to invest ten million euros in to boosting soldier salaries in the country.

The salary reform is intended to keep soldiers and officers from leaving service, LETA reports.

Elsewhere, The Ministry of Defense will submit an additional 40,000 euros in order to launch the Cyber Youth Guard in 2015.

The Cyber Defense Unit includes qualified IT specialists who provide support in regard to state security and the execution of various defense tasks.

An additional 744,206 euros is required for the Youth Guard, including the establishment of new youth units in the regions and material supplies. 

Earlier this year, the Cyber Defense Unit was established as part of the Home Guard.
