Electric bicycles can now be rented in Estonia's second largest city, Tartu.

Bike lovers can rent the bicycles at the town hall square whilst it's hoped more places could act a rental sports if the idea catches on.

Kalle Kahk, the head of the project, told ERR radio that the idea had already proved popular with locals and more than ten bikes were being used at one given time.

The electric bicycles have three wheels and can be ridden standing up. Tartu city officials hope the idea will spread thanks to EU funds.
