A garage full of artillery shells was found by police in Latvia yesterday, LETA reports.
Around a hundred explosives were discovered on Firsa Sadovnikova Street in Riga, police say. The police arrived at the garage in connection with another criminal case to check a on a lead about an illegal arms cache. What they found though was a garage filled with artillery shells.
The man who had amassed these explosives has not been detained yet, State Police say whilst It's unknown what the purpose of the cache was.
The National Armed Forces refused to comment on the condition of the shells, as well as the on scope of damage that such amount of explosives could cause.
People were evacuated from the nearby buildings and traffic was shut down. Only several hours later, the explosives were removed from the garage.
