Estonia has been ranked 24th in the world in a global innovation index, Public Broadcasting reports.
Among European countries, Estonia ranked 15th, getting 51.1 points out of a hundred.
Switzerland topped the index with 64.8 points, UK 62.4 with points and Sweden with 62.3 points. Meanwhile, Latvia ranks 34th, Lithuania, 39th.
The index was compiled by Cornell University, the business school INSEAD and the UN agency the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
The ranking took into account 84 separate indicators, starting from the national political environment stability, freedom of the press and education spending, and ending with films produced in the country, and the number of Wikipedia entries per population.
