There was a minor scuffle after a pro Russian activist approached the rally and chanted "Moscow." Three people were arrested for causing disturbances during the protest, LETA reports.
"Russia is breaking peace in the world," one protester told The Baltic Times.
He said the recent shooting down of a Malaysia Airlines flight that killed all 298 people on board yesterday was Russia's responsibility
"It's Russia's fault, directly or indirectly, it's a result of their policies"
Later, protesters went to the Dutch embassy in Riga to pay their respects to the victims of the tragedy. Most of the passengers on board the plane were of Dutch origin.
Both Ukraine and Russia have blamed each other for the attack.
