An eight-year-old boys dream came true on Sunday after he escorted German star Miroslav Klose on to the pitch for the World Cup final
Linards Lazdans from Latvia was awarded the honor after entering a McDonald's competition, beating off thousands of other children worldwide.
He was the only youngster from the Baltic States to be part of Sunday's World Cup which saw Germany take the trophy for the first time since 1990.
Linards told members of the press that it was a "dream come true" because he had specifically requested the chance to escort Klose - or the Argentine star Lionel Messi.
