A total of 20 million euros will be invested in order to boost tourism in Latvia, the Ministry of Economy has said.
The funding will be made available to strengthen tourism infrastructure, the development of cultural and nature tourism products and other activities.
Latvian Minister of Economy Vjaceslavs Dombrovskis said that Latvia's tourism industry has seen rapid growth the past several years, however, he added that tourist would only travel to Latvia during the summer
''One of our main tasks will be to lessen this seasonal trait. Our changeable weather conditions dictate the necessity to diversify what our tourism offers, so that we could attract tourists all year round,'' said Mr Dombrovskis.
The funding will come from the EU for the 2014-2020 financial planning period, the Economy Ministry said.
