Laima registers 10 million euro turnover

Chocolate candy manufacturing company Laima operated with a turnover of 10.84 million euros in 2013.

The figure is 11 percent more than in 2012, when turnover was 9.81 million euros, "Firmas.lv reports.

The company's profit increased more than fivefold from 1.12 million euros in 2012, to 5.75 million euros in 2013.

According to a Laima management report, financial indicators can be explained by the increase of sales volume in export markets. 

In 2013, the company invested in the modernization of equipment and technological processes, as well as finished the project "Renovation of Baltic chocolate museum", which was initiated in 2012. The company further invested more than 1 million euros in the museum, and it was added to the list of Latvian Industrial Heritage.

This year, Laima plans to continue improving its competitive capacity, implementing energy-efficiency measures and improving technologies, as well as to continue operating in export markets. 42 percent of the company's production is exported. Laima exports its production to 30 countries around the globe, including China, Russia, the United States, Canada, the Baltic States, Israel, Great Britain, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.
