Commemoration marks 23rd anniversary of border guard’s death

Twenty-three years ago, on May 19, 1991, an unarmed border control officer, shift commander of the Dieveniskes patrol service station Gintaras Zagunis, was the first border guard in Lithuania to lose his life after the restoration of the country’s independence, reports ELTA.Marking the 23rd anniversary of death of Zagunis, flowers will be placed on his grave in Antakalnis Cemetery in Vilnius.
