Headquarters for Support of Russian Schools activist Alexander Livchak informed LETA that the organization, in its talks with Latvia’s Education Ministry this week, will demand "all restrictions lifted on gaining an education in Latvia in the Russian language."

Livchak explained that his organization will be putting on the table the "most minimal of demands." He added that the organization is asking the ministry to delete from official documents mention of a plan to eliminate the schooling option in the Russian language.

Education and Science Minister Ina Druviete on April 7 urged all educators to come together and talk, as "it is clear that most of the reproaches we hear are far from the truth - ethnic minority education will be retained in Latvia."
