During the March 29 Reform Party congress, Latvian Economy Minister Vjaceslavs Dombrovskis was voted in as the party's new chairman, reports LETA. Also during the congress, a majority of Reform Party members supported moving closer with Unity.
The Reform Party's current chairman Edmunds Demiters previously said that he will not run in the 12th Saeima elections, and thus intends to step down from the party leadership.
Furthermore, Minister Dombrovskis plans to run on Unity's ticket in the 12th Saeima elections later this year.
Dombrovskis' advisor Anna Kononova said previously that the Reform Party and Unity have agreed on running together in the Saeima elections. She said according to this agreement, Dombrovskis intends on running on Unity's ticket.
