A city bike self-service system, CycloCity Vilnius, which was successfully launched last year will start this season a lot earlier than planned - the first bikes will appear on the streets on April 1, says Vilnius Tourist Information Center, reports ELTA.
Until the middle of May there will be 36 self-service terminals installed in Vilnius; this accounts for 12 terminals more than last year. A system user's card can be updated or acquired in the second half of March.
At the beginning of April the first 33 bike terminals will be launched. This year the development will go further towards Antakalnis to Olandu roundabout; Kalnai Park, Saltoniskiu and Narbuto Streets, Lithuanian Youth Center and other places of interest can be reached by bikes.
This innovative service scored the highest rating from the users of the city bike system last year. For the time being Vilnius is the first and only city in Eastern Europe where the bike self-service system CycloCity, from the French venture capital company, is installed. The Vilnius City Municipality initiated the program in Vilnius.
