Estonian education minister Jaak Aaviksoo and Finnish education minister Krista Kiuru signed on Wednesday a cooperation memorandum on creating a joint Estonian-Finnish Education Cloud.

The cloud provides a digital environment for study materials and good practices which supports better learning and is open for all students and teachers.

The aim of the Education Cloud is, among other things, to help creators of study materials to reach users and vice versa. The environment will be used for organizing exams and preparation for exams. The creators of the content of the Education Cloud are not just specialists and entrepreneurs but also teachers and students. The cooperation lasts till the end of the year 2020.

Estonian education and science minister Jaak Aaviksoo said that there are plenty of good examples in Estonia today of how digital possibilities are utilized effectively.

"I am convinced that with our Nordic neighbors and our students and teachers, we are ready for more – for being global leaders in modern education," said Aaviksoo.

The Education Cloud is based on the principle of openness and aims to guarantee that pupils, teachers, parents and adult learners have better access to high-quality digital learning materials as digital world possibilities have to reach everyday education life and support improvement and modernizing of study results.
