Architectural gem gutted by fire in Riga

 Firefighters battled a 12 hour blaze  in Agenskalns-Riga on Jan. 10.

A 117 year old building, designed by Art Nouveau architect Alfred Aschenkampf was once known as the Von Kolpakoff House was destroyed in the fire.

The uninhabited house on Balozu St. 21 was undergoing reconstruction. The cause of the fire is unclear at this time.
