Lithuania files second lawsuit against Gazprom

Lithuania has launched a second law suit against Russian gas giant Gazprom.

Gazprom is one of the largest shareholders of company Lietuvos Dujos , in the Stockholm arbitration tribunal.

The final decision on the lawsuit brought forward by the Ministry of Energy, will be made in the extraordinary general meeting of shareholders of Lietuvos Dujos on Jan. 30, reports ELTA.

The Energy Ministry is seeking to reduce the prices of gas supplied according to a gas supply sgreement in December made in 1999 No GLi-2000.

The General Manager of the company is obliged to carry out all actions of initiation of the arbitration proceedings and actions necessary for due conducting of such proceedings including but not limited to purchase of legal services, submission of the notice to the arbitration court, drafting and filing the statement of claim and all other necessary documents.

The General Manager of the company is also authorised to conduct negotiations with OAO Gazprom with the aim to improve the conditions of supply of gas to the Company. The arbitration proceedings shall be suspended in case of reaching a favourable commercial agreement with OAO Gazprom which would be approved by the Board of Directors of the Company, says the company in a statement.
