One person died after a bomb was set off in Riga on Jan.5

An explosion rocked Riga on Jan. 5, killing one person, state police say.

The explosion occurred on  Malu Street, near Riga's Ziepniekkalns Cemetery. Several explosive materials were found at the scene whilst a squad of experts was called in to neutralize the explosives.

State Police say the explosion occurred at around 6 p.m. in a garage or another type of building used for economic purposes.

According to the National Armed Forces, however, the explosion was possibly caused by a device that was not unexploded ordnance.

The location where the bomb went off is understood to house a few companies, reports Delfi.
