Unity agrees on PM candidate

The LTV ‘Panorama’ newsroom says it has information that agreement has unofficially been reached between the Unity and Reform parties on nominating Agriculture Minister Laimdota Straujuma for Latvia’s next prime minister, reports LETA.

LETA has learned that Unity's board will hold a meeting on Jan. 5 at 5 p.m.

President Andris Berzins has set Jan. 7 as the deadline for a nomination, vowing to take action himself otherwise.
