There was a reduction in the number of needy residents this past November, according to Latvian Welfare Ministry data, reports LETA. 4.1 percent or 83,339 residents were below the poverty line in November, which is 2,305 persons less than in September.
In comparison, there were 108,661 low-income residents in January; 107,522 in February; 106,535 in March; 109,924 in April; 97,475 in May; 92,102 in June; 85,115 in July; 83,811 in August; 85,737 in September and 85,655 in October.
3.1 million lats was spent on municipal social aid benefits in November. 78,001 residents received municipal social aid benefits in November.
