The chair of a Riga hospital has been suspended following a corruption probe, Latvia's Health Ministry says.
Ruta Valtere was suspended as chairwoman of the Pauls Stradins Hospital on Dec. 19 after members of the Corruption Prevention Bureau searched the hospital earlier this month.
The Health Ministry said there were deficiencies established in the hospital during the investigation whilst board members showed opposing views regarding the hospitals management. Further information has not been made available.
Earlier, hospital board members Eva Strike and Guntis Bahs stepped down.
