Riga Mayor Nils Usakovs has called an extraordinary Riga City Council meeting today at 5 p.m., where the councilmen will have to hold a vote of confidence on the mayor, LETA reports.
"Taking into consideration the tragic events in Zolitude and the current political turmoil, as well as several right-wing politicians' calls for my resignation, I have decided to myself propose that council members hold a vote of no confidence," says Usakovs,
It follows after up to 1,000 pro and anti Riga mayor supporters rallied outside the town hall on Dec. 3.
