Latvian President Andris Berzins on Dec. 3 begins consultations with political parties on the formation of a new government, reports LETA. The president intends to meet with all of the political Saeima groups represented at parliament.

He will meet with Harmony Center, Unity, and All for Latvia!-For Fatherland and Freedom/LNNK.

Berzins will continue the political consultations on Dec. 4, when he will meet with the Reform Party and the Union of Greens and Farmers.

Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis (Unity) announced last week that he would step down, taking political responsibility for the supermarket tragedy. Latvia needs to have a government that will be supported by the Saeima majority and deal with the current situation in the nation, said Dombrovskis.
