Thousands suffer black out after heavy storms

Up to 20,000 home owners in Latvia have been left without power after a storm struck on Dec. 1.

The largest power outages were registered in Koknese, Gulbene, Skriveri, Ogre, Aizkraukle, Bauska, Olaine, Carnikava and Saulkrasti regions, reports LETA.

Electricity company Sadales Tikls said they managed to restore power to 7,000 homes as of Dec. 2. 

Strong winds of up to 25-27 m/s velocity battered Latvia on Dec. 1.
