Latvian Police have said that an  nvestigation into the supermarket tragedy will be quick, effective and thorough.

Police Chief Ints Kuzis added that the investigation will not start until the rescue effort has been called off, reports LETA.

The police have already gathered a team of leading construction experts to help with the investigation. Other evidence is also being collected at the moment.

Police still believe that the main reason the building's roof collapsed was due to construction violations.

As reported, more than 50 people were killed and several dozens injured when a Maxima supermarket roof collapsed in Riga's Zolitude neighborhood Thursday, Nov. 21 evening. It is impossible to say at the moment how long the rescue operation will continue. It is also still unknown how many people may be still trapped underneath the rubble.
