Forensic experts have confirmed that the remains of a man found in a forest in Tukums Region in August belong to the U.S. millionaire Leonid Rozhetskin, reports LETA.
It follows after Rozhetskin, a Russian-born U.S. citizen, disappeared in suspicious circumstances from his holiday home in Jurmala in March 2008.
It is unlikely that it will be possible to determine specific cause of death, a state police spokeswoman said.
Investigators believe that he had arrived in Latvia for pleasure, not business - to spend time in his Jurmala villa. Criminal Police Chief Janis Lazdins said that immediately after Rozhetskin went missing, a homicide case was opened, and two suspects detained - his home's security guard and superintendent.
However, "both were freed long ago", said Lazdins, adding that the police are still looking for others who may have been involved in the crime.
