Lithuanians who have left the country after the restoration of independence and have become citizens of another country should be allowed to preserve their Lithuanian citizenship, a member of the Lithuanian World Community (PLB) has said.

“The position of the PLB - it is possible to preserve the citizenship of people of Lithuanian origin. We are not speaking about dual citizenship. We are talking about the preservation of the citizenship,” said Narusiene, a member of the organisation.

Narusiene added hat minor changes were needed to amend the Law on citizenship, reports ELTA.

“In order to achieve this, only supplements to the current law are needed (..). There is no need for a referendum or amendments to the Constitution,” added Narusiene.
