The Jewish fund, appointed to handle the Lithuanian state compensation for nationalized Jewish property, has decided to put half of the compensation received away for the future generations, reports ELTA.

The remaining part of the money will be spent for the commemoration of Jewish culture and protection of the heritage in Lithuania.

According to the Law on Good Will Compensation for the Property of Jewish Religious Communities, 128 million litas (37 million euros) should be transferred for the compensation from the state’s budget until 2023. The sum of money will be dedicated to the funding of projects related to the Jewish religion, culture, health care, sports, education and science in Lithuania.
