RIGA - In an interview on the LNT television channel’s morning news program, the head of Latvia’s political party the Union of Greens and Farmers at Saeima, Augusts Brigmanis, said that his party has not been directly or indirectly asked to join the government, reports LETA.
According to information obtained by LETA, several Reform Party politicians are worried that they could be pushed out of the government to create a new Cabinet of Ministers made up of Unity, All for Latvia!-For Fatherland and Freedom/LNNK and the Union of Greens and Farmers. This could be the main reason why Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis (Unity), untypical of him, is directing harsh criticism towards recently appointed Education and Science Minister Vjaceslavs Dombrovskis (Reform Party).
Saeima speaker and Unity leader Solvita Aboltina said that representatives from her party are not currently in any discussion on the possible formation of a new government, and called recent news reports on this matter “gossip.”
