RIGA - Latvian Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis will call for Culture Minister Zaneta Jaunzeme-Grende’s resignation, reports LETA. The prime minister will make his final and formal decision on Sept. 16. Coalition partners will be informed about it beforehand.

Dombrovskis also demands that VL-TB/LNNK nominate a new culture minister candidate and work constructively in the government.

The prime minister says that a serious conflict has arisen between the minister and part of the culture sector. He has urged the minister to solve the conflict, but the minister fell ill. And when the minister returned to work, she did not solve the conflict - instead, she has made it even worse.

Dombrovskis says that this is not Jaunzeme-Grende’s first such conflict. “Unfortunately, as we can see, such cases tend to repeat and the minister’s dialogue with the culture sector is not successful,” explained the prime minister.
He also suggests that Justice Minister Juris Bordans be appointed acting culture minister.
