VILNIUS (BNS) - "Most probably, Russia will transport its oil to the West through the Butinge oil terminal, but we can talk about when and what only after we finish Butinge construction work," Vladimir Stanev, Russian Fuel and Energy Vice Minister said Oct. 27, after meeting with Lithuanian Economy Minister Vincas Babilius.

The minister and heads of Lithuanian oil companies spent nearly all day in discussion with the Russian oilmen on the prospects of oil transportation through the Butinge oil terminal. Also present at the meeting were senior officials of the Russian Neft oil industry control center, Transneft company and Druzhba pipeline of Novopolotsk, the daily Respublika writes.

The initiative to call the meeting with the Russian oilmen was shown by Lithuania's Mazeikiu Nafta oil refinery. The visitors were informed about the plans to merge three Lithuanian oil enterprises and the plans of Williams International which is a strategic investor into the Lithuanian oil industry.
