Parachuting competition underway

VILNIUS - From July 22-26 the International Parachuting School Challenge (Challenge Inter-Ecoles de Parachutisme, CIEP) is being held in Lithuania for the first time, at the Division General Stasys Rastikis Lithuanian Armed Forces School, reports ELTA. A symposium for the participating heads of schools is also to be organized.

Around 60 representatives from Belgium, Estonia, France, Germany, Lithuania, Poland and Portugal are to participate in the competition CIEP 2013 Lithuania along with a symposium of parachute school heads. The soldiers will participate in the events of shooting, orienteering, swimming in field uniform, accuracy landing static-line and accuracy landing free-fall. The events will be organized in various locations - Kaunas, Trakai, Kazlu Ruda, Seduva and Prienai District.

During the symposium the participants will be acquainted with parachuting training and technique innovations.
Lithuanian soldiers have participated in the International Parachuting School Challenge since 2006. For three straight years Lithuanian soldiers were placed among the top participants, and have won the static-line event. In 2012 in France soldiers of the Parachute Training Center of the Lithuanian Armed Forces won a silver medal in the shooting event and five bronze medals in team competitions.

The International Parachuting School Challenge has been organized since 1980 in a different country each year.
