The officers from Eastern Circuit Police Prefecture arrested three Lithuanian citizens for having impersonated police officers in Estonia and defrauding the elderly of their money, reports National Broadcasting.

According to the Eastern Circuit Police Prefecture, the men phoned the elderly and demanded cash payments for traffic accidents that had been caused by their relatives – either for avoiding criminal charges or for providing medical treatment to “victims” of alleged accidents.

The Eastern Circuit Police Prefecture had received more than 10 such complaints and, according to the police, the frauds had taken in nearly 28,000 euros from people by using this scheme.
