Corruption levels worsen

RIGA - More than half of the respondents in a global corruption survey released last Tuesday think that corruption has worsened over the past two years, and a quarter report having paid officials a bribe in the last 12 months, reports AFP.The survey by the Berlin-based non-profit group Transparency International also shows that people have the least trust in institutions meant to help or protect them, including the police, courts and political parties.Respondents believe official anti-corruption efforts have deteriorated since the 2008 start of the world financial and economic cris...
