Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius plans to meet with the representatives of the protesting statutory officers to discuss the situation in the interior affairs system, yet the prime minister does not promise an increase in salaries in 2013, reports ELTA.

“Today I asked my team to organize the meeting soon so we could talk about the difficult financial situation and our certain obligations for the next year. I hope that maybe we will be able to meet this week and to talk; hopefully, we will find mutual understanding,” said Butkevicius.

Asked if the salaries for statutory officers could be raised this year, the head of the government said that there were no possibilities for it. “No, we have not promised to increase their salaries in 2013,” said Butkevicius.
