Vinkele calls pension demands ‘blackmail’

RIGA - The Latvian Pensioners’ Federation (LPF) board decided on June 10 to support indexing of pensions by a coefficient of 1.04 on the condition that all pensions up to 250 lats (357 euros) a month, not up to 200 lats a month as previously discussed, will be indexed, under a Welfare Ministry proposal last week, reports LETA.The Federation’s board made the decision, fearing for the well-being of those pensioners whose pensions exceed 200 lats by at least one lat.
