London’s Lord Mayor arrives for visit

VILNIUS - President Dalia Grybauskaite met with Lord Mayor of London Roger Gifford, who is on a visit to Lithuania, reports ELTA. The conversation focused on Lithuania’s preparations for the presidency of the Council of the European Union and the investment climate in the country.

According to the president, the upcoming presidency of the Council of the EU is a major challenge for Lithuania. Financial stability and economic growth will be the underlying priorities on the agenda. Lithuania will also dedicate considerable attention to the Eastern Partnership issues, cooperation with Eastern neighbors, and trade with strategic partners.
Grybauskaite underlined that Lithuanian can be justly proud of a well-developed business infrastructure and favorable conditions for business start-ups. Investors from the UK and all over the world are always welcome in Lithuania. British companies such as Barclays and Callcredit have proved that the country is open to foreign investment and that business can be successfully developed here.

This is the fourth time the lord mayor of one of the world’s most important financial centers is paying a visit to Lithuania. The Lithuanian City of London Club is one of the most active organizations uniting Lithuanian professionals based in London. The goal of the Club members is to help Lithuania enter international markets.
