VILNIUS - Lithuania's General Prosecutor's Office decided to apply to the relevant authorities in Sweden asking to take over the prosecution of the so-called Teddy bears case.

The General Prosecutor's Office says that it has carried out all criminal proceedings in the pre-trial investigation on illegal border crossing and violation of international air traffic rules. Further prosecution is only possible in Sweden.

According to the pre-trial investigation data, on July 4 of 2012 light aircraft Yodel with Swedish registration number flew from Lithuania to Belarus and later returned to Lithuania. The aircraft breached international flight rules and did not have proper documents and the permission to cross the border.
